I am a PhD student at the University of Essex. My research focusses on the films of Dutch director Paul Verhoeven, with particular interest in bodies, embodied spectatorship and intertextuality. I employ concepts such as immanence, desiring-production and multiplicities, adapted primarily from the work of Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, to explore what the films do in the context of dominant social, political and economic structures of the time. I also curate the Centre for Film Studies weekly film screenings at the University of Essex.
